As a sort of companion piece to my post of the best new spots that opened in 2024, I have to acknowledge the best places that were new to me this past year.
The Persian Room
I like everything about this spot, from the great flavor to the ambiance to the family style ordering.

Que Hoang
It’s always best to be skeptical of a restaurant that does two things— I feel like they usually aren’t both amazing. But this place is the exception proving the rule, with great Vietnamese and Chinese food. Their prices are super cheap, they don’t tend to be busy, and the service is solid. It’s a true hidden gem.

Nino’s Greek Cafe
A simple menu with quality service and quality ingredients. Say hi to the cute cat who lives on their patio for me.

Rips Bar
This is my new favorite dive. It fits my former emo kid aesthetic, with an alt crowd and a love for music. They do open mics, local bands, and karaoke on different nights.
The Maybes
Harlem, a coffee pop up at Sauvage, has excellent drinks (but the potential for a longer wait and tough parking). Definitely give them a visit, but not when you’re in a rush for coffee on your way to work.

50 Shades of Rosé, a themed bar in Scottsdale, is incredible for a photo op. Their drinks are hit or miss, but their aesthetic is unbeatable. Expect a club vibe (loud and crowded) on a weekend.

When it comes to The English Rose Tea Room, I love everything except for the drive— it’s located in Carefree, which is cute but not exactly in Phoenix. I recommend dressing up to fully appreciate the experience; the tea room is decked out in classic pink and florals. Make sure to have a reservation before you go, and try the tea sandwiches.
