Where to Halloween in Phoenix

There are many spots to get a little spooky this October, but these are my favorites. Scottsdale offers a lot of additional options, but I think Phoenix businesses outshine anything there in terms of balanced drinks and reasonable prices.

Bitter & Twisted

Their menu doesn’t have too many seasonal changes, but it doesn’t need it. Their creative options and great presentation are consistent. This year, they’re also playing some scary movies on dates leading up to Halloween!

Sunny’s Lounge

Their Black Lagoon pop-up is probably the most immersive themed decor in the city. Normally it’s an upscale dive, but they really go all out in October.

Hula’s

They call their specials Hula-ween and it’s always a joy to see what new tiki-style things they cook up for the season. If you’re looking for a full meal with your Halloween drinks, this or Starving Artist is the spot.

36 Below

It’s almost cheating to put this place on the list because they’re always decorated to the max for a theme, but their fall menu and look will put anyone in the Halloween spirit. This is my top recommendation for great presentation of the drinks.

Starving Artist

They’re always serving up rotating specials on food and drinks, and the aesthetic is always cool. Halloween season is a great time to give them a try if you haven’t already, especially if you want to catch a televised sports game with your drinks and/or dinner. This is also probably the best spot for a big group.

Outside of restaurants/bars

I highly recommend the outdoor seasonal movie series done by Downtown Phoenix!

Phoenix Public Library has a bunch of free programming, especially for children and teens.

Having now tried a couple different pumpkin patches (including Schnepf and Vertuccio Farms ), I think the best value for cost is Mother Nature Farms. They send you home with a pumpkin, included in the $17 admission.

Although I can’t personally vouch for most of these experiences, Visit Phoenix has a very comprehensive round-up of the local haunted houses and seasonal events here. There’s so much to do!
