Best Bakeries in Phoenix

We have no shortage of great spots for a baked sweet treat here. These are my favorites. Stay tuned for a post specifically on the best cookies in the valley— I have a little experiment I need to conduct before then.

The DinerSaur

This place sets itself apart in two major ways: their delicious lunch sandwich deal, and their partnership doing pastries and scones for the First Place Coffee truck. Their brick and mortar location is small and designed for to-go purchasing, but there’s cute outdoor seating nearby.

JL Pâtisserie

This is a great, French-style bakery and patisserie— think croissants, cute little fancy cakes and eclairs. I recommend visiting on a weekend, even though they’re busier then, because their menu is more expansive.

Valentine

While this is a restaurant and brunch spot, their baked goods specifically are next level. I’d describe them as generally European style but with southwest inspired flavors. Sharing a slice of quiche and a couple pastries is the perfect breakfast or brunch for two.

Urban Cookies

This is a classic American-style bakery, known for their cookies and cupcakes. Their claims to fame are their winning performance on Cupcake Wars and the creation of the churro cupcake. Everything is good, whether you’re talking about the permanent menu or rotating specials. Even if you think you “don’t like icing” or “cupcakes are too sweet” you’ll appreciate the flavor balance here. They also have gluten free options.

Sweet Dee’s Bakeshop

This place is known for their aesthetic, but the beauty is more than skin deep. Their prices definitely reflect their Scottsdale location, but no one does better or more fun sets of themed treats. Their selection rotates throughout the year, with Star Wars for May the 4th, Harry Potter treats in late July, or even Taylor Swift and Beyoncé themes when the singers drop a new album.

The only thing the valley is missing is a more northern location of Bisbee’s lovely Pâtisserie Jacqui!
