Phoenix has so many good options! Here are my favorite restaurants, ordered from the most cheap/casual to the more fancy/expensive. I’ve stuck to the city limits because I can’t claim to be an expert in the whole valley.
Under $10
Tacos Huicho
A taco Tuesday go to in my house, this valley spot has multiple locations and a $1.25 taco on our favorite weekly holiday.

Ta Carbon
As opposed to the classic pastor tacos I get at Tacos Huicho, this place specializes in asada, with some more unique and interesting (but equally cheap) options. I also like that they have a salsa/toppings bar.
Mid-range ($10-20 per person)
Presidio
This is a cute, sit-down restaurant. I love their enchiladas, their horchata, and everything on their brunch menu.

La Santisima
Here you’ll find a larger selection of regional specialities and creative options than anywhere else on the list.

Nice and Fancy
Bacanora
While their classic burrito is still affordable, most of the delicious menu here is small plates— adding up to a pricey but occasionally worthwhile meal.

Fair warning: you will need a reservation to get seated at Bacanora! Everywhere else, walking in is easy.
