Best Cafés for Tea Drinkers

With the recent closing of ChaCha’s Tea Lounge (and the significant time that’s passed since my last coffee shop post), I decided it was time for an update. These are my current favorite spots in Phoenix for drinking tea.

Copper Star

Best drinks: chai, London fog with lavender, iced blueberry matcha blend

Best snack: the bagels! Rosemary Asiago all day every day.

Bonus fact: They have a drive-thru with the coolest sticker collection anywhere outside of the Gracie’s Tax Bar bathrooms.

First Place Coffee

Best drinks: off the current seasonal menu, the hummingbird or orange zest matcha

Best snack: rotating flavors of scones or cake scoops from The Dinersaur

Bonus fact: woman owned and operated, their mobile truck is named Matilda.

Songbird Coffee and Tea House

Best drinks: truly, they’re the best because of their wide selection of teas!

Best snack: any of the house pastries

Bonus fact: they have a lovely resident cat named Inky Bob.

Cafe Mollie

Best drinks: iced matcha with pandan cold foam (or any matcha with a flavored cold foam)

Best snack: the house special bánh mì

Bonus fact: they serve traditional Vietnamese coffee and boba as well.

Serafina Coffee Roasters

Best drinks: pistachio rose matcha, any seasonal fall specials (but especially vanilla pumpkin chai)

Best snack: the chocolate chip cookies

Bonus fact: I first fell in love with this spot due to their annex at the ASU law school campus.

Honorable mentions

I still appreciate Lux / Lola / MFG for their amazing chai.

Bang Bang Coffee has a great chai and bagels from Bagelfelds to round out a great on the go breakfast.

I typically help myself to a tea latte whenever I go to JL Patisserie for breakfast or brunch (but it’s very secondary to their pastries).

Valentine also has a great mesquite chai that I recommend to anyone brunching there.

Finally, my go to place for a tea if I want to work is First Draft Book Bar.

Cheers! And please let me know if I missed anything!
