Getting Married

After a season of planning, I wanted to take this space to shout out my favorite fantastic wedding vendors and friends who were part of our special day.

The day before, I laid eyes on our venue in person for the first time at our rehearsal!

Anxiety melted away when I was able to envision what our wedding day would look like and remember what was most important, surrounded by family and friends. I’m happy we chose the Boettcher Mansion, but the people were the key ingredient to everything being so perfect.

We had a post rehearsal lunch and drinks at The Golden Mill, which was a great place for a large group on a low key special occasion.

Our actual rehearsal dinner was at one of the Denver locations of longtime blog favorite Postino.

We met up with friends in LoHi to grab a few late night drinks and enjoy more of Denver together.

Lady Jane

We hit up Lady Jane and Avanti for cocktails and late night vibes. I loved spending time with our bridal party and other close friends the night before.

On the wedding day itself, we started with an at-home breakfast spread done by friends who own Tablón Coffee Roasters and Hearth, a coffee shop in Denver.

My gown was from Schaeffer’s Bridal in Scottsdale, with alterations done by Couturier Sadie Maridha.

I chose to do my own makeup, but my bridesmaids and I went for a blowout at DryBar to take off the stress of doing our own hair.

My bridal party consisted of my siblings and my best friend from law school. I’m so grateful to everyone who was part of this day, but these woman are an extra special part of my life.

Even though I planned everything on my own, I hired a day-of coordinator to keep things running smoothly. Harper Bond Events was the most reasonably priced option I found, and I’m happy I had their coordinator Jessica there to cue the ceremony and help deal with all the quirks of the day.

Our florals were done by Sturtz & Copeland, and I can’t speak more highly of them. I had a very specific vision, and they made my dream come true—both in the venue’s arch and through personal florals.

My mom helped me get ready, along with my bridesmaids, and my dad came all the way from Baghdad to walk me down the aisle. The day wouldn’t have been complete without those special touches from my parents.

We did not do a “first look,” so the first time Cole saw me in my wedding dress was when I came down the aisle.

I walked down the aisle to the instrumental version of Golden Hour, a song that is also personal to us.

We wrote our own vows and had Cole’s father officiate the ceremony.

Boettcher Mansion has an outdoor and indoor space, so we held our ceremony outside and reception indoors. We used Colorado Catering Company for food, since they were on the venue’s preferred caterer list.

Our photography was done by Alysha with Taylor Nicole Photography. She was an amazing photographer and encouraging presence on the day, and we’re so happy with how our photos have turned out.

We did our first dance to Our House by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. We also had a father/daughter and mother/son dance to You’ll Be In My Heart by Phil Collins.

Our friends, Twice Baked Band, played our reception and made it the most rockin’ time! Cole and I each serenaded the other with a surprise song. I sang Can’t Help Falling in Love, and Cole surprised me with one of my all time favorites— Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.

Instead of traditional favors, we hired the Shutterbus, a classic VW bus converted to a photobooth, to let guests take home their own photos. Photos are always my favorite thing to take home from an event, and these are memories I know I’ll want to keep forever.

After singing and dancing until we were tired, the party had to wrap up at some point. We did a bubble exit and headed to stay the night at The Ramble Hotel in Denver, home to Death & Co.

Ending our perfect day with a nightcap at a bar I’ve been longing to try was a lovely finish. Death & Co. and everyone at The Ramble made our stay a wonderful experience.

I couldn’t be happier with our start to married life.
