Fall Necessities: Best Patios in Phoenix

As October is finally upon us, it’s time to enjoy what Phoenix is (rightly) most famous for– perfect outdoor weather. Here are some of my favorite places to eat outdoors in Phoenix city limits.

For coffee & tea

Window Coffee Bar: more people should know about this place! Even though all their seating is outdoors, they have a good quiet space for work, along with a variety of delicious drink options.

For brunch

Luci’s at the Orchard: while Luci’s has two locations and this one can be quite busy for weekend brunches, it’s worth your time. Their patio is also dog-friendly.

Little Chef Diner: freshly reopened and now with a liquor license, this place seems underrated to me. They’re not just for brunch, either– they do events like paint-n-sips and stay open late (and still slinging some of the cheapest beers in the city if you need a casual nightcap).

For lunch

ChaCha’s Tea Lounge: tucked in the cutest corner of Grand Ave, this place has shaded tables with chalk available to add your own art to the sidewalk. Their menu is also fully vegetarian.

Welcome Diner: the walk-up window and picnic tables give this place a great casual vibe. The name says it all– they serve classic, filling American deliciousness.

For happy hour

Ocotillo: with deals on both food and drinks, this place is worth visiting year-round. However, their gorgeous outdoor space deserves a special shoutout.

Alexei’s: this midtown restaurant is a hidden happy hour gem, with great drink specials on all kinds of martinis.

For drinks

Garden Bar: in a renovated former home, this place could not be more aesthetic. The changing seasonal drink menu and non-alcoholic options mean there’s always a reason to go back.

Lom Wong’s Khla: while the restaurant does have patio space, the related bar around the corner is even more stylish.

For dinner dates

The Vig Fillmore: the cutest of Vig locations boasts shaded, outdoor patio with twinkle lights.

Cibo: if you’re looking for Italian food, this is a classy, beautiful choice. They even offer gluten-free pizza options!

For dessert

Novel Ice Cream: if straight ice cream isn’t your thing, they’ll sandwich it into a donut or waffle for you, too.

For groups

The Pemberton: there’s something for everyone here, with their collection of food and bar trucks. While some popular choices may be rotating out, it’s still a great place to explore potential new favorites.

AZ Wilderness – Downtown Phoenix location: for locally sourced food and drinks, this place is a great meet-up spot.

Honorable mentions:

These places are already well known or elsewhere on the blog and don’t need another recommendation, but they are great and have outdoor space.
