Caffeine in the City: The Best Phoenix Coffeeshops

Starbucks is everywhere and Dutch Bros is an institution, but we have so many great local options. These are my favorite Phoenix spots to grab coffee– or in my case, probably a chai latte.

Lux Central

Lux has more than one location, but Central is my favorite for its stylish look, light rail accessibility, and easy parking. They serve my favorite breakfast sandwich in Phoenix, and will happily substitute avocado for bacon to make it vegetarian-friendly. Their coffee is top tier and they make their own chai in-house. Everything here is always fresh and delicious, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, happy hour, or dinner.

Fair Trade Café

Fair Trade is a great place to go if you care about the impact your purchases are making! They are a fair trade supporting, Latina-owned business, and they feature local artists in their decor. They don’t prominently display their food menu, but everything on it is delicious. If you’re looking for a coffeeshop to do work in, this is one of my favorites.

Jobot Coffee & Bar

Of every coffeeshop/bar in Phoenix, this one has the best food. Their dim sum rocks my world, and it’s super cheap! I also love the Melt Ice Cream bar. Whenever you come by, their music selection is cool and their service is top notch.

Songbird Coffee & Teahouse

I love this cute little house-turned-coffeeshop/teahouse. They serve only a small breakfast sandwich and a selection of pastries, but their selection of tea is unparalleled. While you’re there, say hi to the shop’s tailless black cat, Inky Bob.

Lola Coffee

Their pastry offerings rotate, and you can never be exactly sure what’s going to be available, but I’ve never been disappointed! They do breakfast burritos, but I’m usually drawn to their sweet options, like the chocolate hazelnut tart or their stellar salted chocolate chip cookie.

The Grand

The best part about The Grand is their monthly special drinks – they’re always weirdly creative and super delicious, whether it’s a fall peanut butter chai latte or a springtime lavender Italian soda. I also love their funky atmosphere and spacious outdoor seating area. They serve food, but I’m not a huge fan of their menu outside breakfast pastries. Get one of their cronuts!

MFG Coffee

MFG has a special place in my heart for being the only independent, locally-owned coffeeshop with a drive thru window. The M stands for mother and the G stands for good. Need I say more?
