A Week of Downtown Phoenix Lunch

There are so many fun, local places to grab a quick lunch during a downtown work day – don’t get trapped at Chipotle or Chick Fil A every time! Here’s a work week’s worth of some of my favorites.

TastyBox

This fun concept provides a limited, three dish menu: a vegan, a vegetarian, and a carnivore option. Each box has a balanced set of nutrients and a healthy calorie count, but I’d eat here even if it wasn’t good for me! They’ll rotate their entire menu seasonally a few times a year and rotate the day’s plates depending on the day of the week. They offer samples of everything on the day’s menu, so you know you’re getting something good!

Phoenix Public Market Café

ASU students, rejoice! You get a 10% discount on food here. I recommend picking up a ballerina cookie and a cup of their coconut curry soup, but the veggie bowls are also a lovely way to get your colors in. This place will remind you why #instaeatsfirst. Unlimited drip coffee refills at their crazy low price also make this an ideal location for working remotely.

Jobot Coffee & Bar

While Jobot seems like a coffeeshop/bar, their food is super underrated. They serve the best avocado toast in Phoenix! Don’t forget to check in on Yelp for an automatic discount on anything you order. If you’re in the mood for dessert, Melt shares their space and has perfect pick-me-up ice cream for our hot, dry weather.

Harumi Sushi

It’s no secret this is the best sushi in Phoenix. Their distinctive purple rice doesn’t change the flavor but it does make the food look fun! Check out their lunch specials to try a variety of options. Their Sex and the City roll is my comfort food cheat meal and their Ahi tower is a delicious, deconstructed combination of some of the best ingredients.

The Dressing Room

This cute spot next to the MonOrchid gallery space has a good variety of menu items. For a light meal, go for the adorable lemon ricotta toast, topped with strawberries. If you want something heartier, their fried rice is a warm, savory heaven.

Food Truck Friday

Civic Space Park hosts a small, rotating selection of food trucks every Friday. It’s a great way to support upcoming restauranteurs and try different things.

Every option on this list can fit in with a vegetarian diet. Don’t let anything stop you from being a little adventurous!
